Cursor — an AI-native code editor that builds more deeply on top of the AI assistance model than VS Code plugins do. Worth trying if you want a more integrated experience than a plugin provides.
V0 by Vercel — useful for quickly generating UI component code from descriptions or rough sketches. Good for prototyping; not something I'd ship production code from without significant review.

Where This Is Going
A few things I think about.
Agentic development will change the workflow more than autocomplete did. Tools that can run a test suite, identify a failing test, propose a fix, apply it, and re-run the tests are early right now but developing quickly. In two years, "review AI-proposed changes to failing tests" may be a routine part of development in a way it isn't today.
Design-to-code quality is improving faster than I expected. The gap between a Figma design and production-ready, maintainable code is smaller than it was eighteen months ago. This doesn't eliminate developers — it shifts what they're doing. Less pixel-pushing, more logic, architecture, and making sure the generated code actually performs well.
AI-assisted accessibility is a genuine positive development. Tools that check for WCAG compliance as you build rather than after are reducing the number of accessibility issues that make it to production. This matters especially for clients serving users on older devices and low-powered hardware.
None of this makes the skill of actually building things well less valuable. It makes developers who understand how to use these tools more productive and developers who don't increasingly slower by comparison. That gap will widen.
